A New Jersey based, artist, Rome displays her works on many types of canvases. From furniture and glass to gourds and papier mache, her style has a folk art flavor with a dash of primitive. Her choice of medium is acrylic paint and cardboard. She constructs everything by hand. She thinks of herself as a maker of all things a crafting engineer. It's not easy making one of these pieces without directions, says Rome. I'm drawing plans, measuring, and a lot of trial and error on all my new ideas. Its more than art its a journey. I have a vision and I make it happen.
In 2008, Rome finished furniture painted with farm scenes and stenciling. In 2010 she moved the business back to online sales and art shows to give more attention to the art rather than the running of the shop. Paper Babies is a natural extension of her painted work and offers one of a kind decorative pieces for home and collecting.
In 2012 Rome styled holiday candy containers and dolls, using the traditions of yesterday to create the heirlooms of tomorrow. Each piece is truly one of a kind, and once it is made another will never be the same. These pieces are made with chip board and paper maché as well as vintage fabric and handmade miniatures. Even the trees that the Santa holds are hand made from feather and wool.
"The need for me to create has only gotten stronger with time. I am always into something creative and always will be. I hope you enjoy the Paper Babies collection and you find the perfect one that brings you back to your childhood and that special feeling of Christmas.
